Great read
my granddaughter , going into 8th grade, had to read it over the summer. She was not excited about it and read 15 pages a day. She loves to read, but this wasn't anything she was interested in.

okay
The Glory Field is a stupendous, mind-blowing and exciting book that enables the readers to understand the problems in the past between the Africans and the Americans. This book is essentially about racism and slavery that happened in the past. This astonishing story is about the remarkable African-American family that is known as the Lewis family. This book has five sections that cover different characters that face different problems in their life. The feelings that Myers (the author) puts in the book makes you feel the pain and the sufferings of the Lewis family through six generations. The Glory Field is a convincing story that follows the Lewis family from Africa to South Carolina, and it spans a period of 250 years. This book tells about each of the strong teenage characters in the family that has an ongoing fight for their education, freedom and dignity. The Lewis family also has the continuous fight for their precious and beautiful land, the Glory Field. The Lewis family builds a strong reputation of self-respect and determination through successive generations. Myers (the author) did a fantastic job of sketching a fair portrait of the Lewis family. I personally recommend every person to read the Glory Field because the suspense and drama keeps you thriving to find out what is going to happen next. In addition, the book indulges you while it takes you to a journey of the Lewis family that shows some astonishing accomplishments, big dreams and a lot of hope. However, there are struggles that occur in the Lewis family with the characters that make you very upset. The book is a clear picture of the cruelty against the Lewis family. Myers tells the story of the bitter experiences that they face during their daily life.
