British Columbia History Along the Highways and Waterways

British Columbia History Along the Highways and Waterways. Hope For The One Who Hurts: The Drug Tragedy. Philip Barber, Ted Stone. 13 Canadian ghost stories. This is a great little travel book; I keep it in my glove compartment now. It's the kind of information that appears on those "historical marker" and "points of interest" signs you fly by as you're travelling and then wonder about for the next 5 miles. The information is presented as though you're driving along one of the main highways, but you don't have to be going anywhere to enjoy this book.

Rivers are one of nature's most powerful forces - they bulldoze mountains and carve up the earth, and their courses are constantly moving. Understanding how they form and how they'll change is important for those that call their banks and deltas home. In this visual-packed talk, geoscientist Liz Hajek shows us how rocks deposited by ancient rivers can be used as a time machine to study the history of the earth, so we can figure out how to more sustainably live on it today.

Teddy Gerald Stone (May 20, 1934 – July 16, 2006) was a Southern Baptist evangelist and former drug addict who founded his own ministry to help addicts. To raise funds and awareness of the ministry he completed three walks across the United States and was on his fourth walk when he died. He was also on the board of trustees for Southwestern Baptist Seminary, wrote for the Baptist Press, and ran for statewide leadership roles in the church in North Carolina.

This is a great little travel book; I keep it in my glove compartment now. The information is presented as though you're driving along one of the main highways, but you don't have to be going anywhere to enjoy this book. There's lot of information in it about Alberta that I didn't have a clue about even though I've lived here over 20 years. (For example, did you know that Alberta was called Alberta because Louisiana and Carolina were already taken?) Nice, easily digested short blurbs. Definitely worth it if you're interested in the history of Alberta. The best of its kind on Alberta that I've come across.
