Author: Jack Higgins. Fortunately, he is not successful – but this is only the beginning. Someone is recruiting a shadowy network of agents with the intention of creating terror. Their range is broad, their identities masked, their methods subtle.

He and Clancy had stopped off at their hotel so that Clancy could change from the security uniform, and arrived at their destination a good hour after the corpse and found Romano in the Superintendent’s office already garbed for action. He and Blake were old friends. Romano had done a lot of work for the Basement, the White House security organization that Johnson ran. Romano was drinking coffee and smoking

The President of the United States is scheduled to have dinner with an old friend, but in the building across the street, a man has disabled the security and stands at a window, a rifle in his hand. Fortunately, his attempt is not successful - but this is only the beginning. Someone is recruiting a shadowy network of agents with the intention of creating terror. Their range is broad, their identities masked, their methods subtle. White House operative Blake Johnson and his opposite number in British intelligence, Sean Dillon, set out to trace the source of the havoc, but behind the first man they find another, and behind him another still. And that man is not pleased by the interference. Soon he will target them all: Johnson, Dillon, Dillon’s colleagues. And one of them will fall...
I read book 13 and a few others by this author before receiving my Kindle as a gift. Now I order the books in the series in order. I like how Higgins books end. They do not continue. He is very adapt in bringing the reader into knowing each characters' personalities without being boring. I love Sean Dillon, Ferguson and each protagonist he introduces. I will read every book!
I continue to plow through Jack Higgins titles at a fairly brisk pace. His novels of intrigue and espionage are like an open bag of potato chips; you just can't eat one! With "Dark Justice," Higgins addresses the post-9/11 world of anti-terrorism - both in the U.S. and in the U.K. In each nation, the response to heightened threats of terrorism has been to create a shadow counter-terrorism team - one reporting soley to the U.S. President, the other reporting to the Prime Minister.

The plot ingredients for "Dark Justice" include a former IRA terrorist who now works for the Prime Minister in combatting terror, a Russian oil mogol who is a friend of Putin, a failed assassination attempt on the American President, and internal conflict within the Prime Minister's shadow team about the moral dilemma of operating "above the law" in order to have a fighting chance to thwart the terrorists.

As always, Higgins adds his own special blend of spices - well-drawn characters and unanticipated plot twists that makes this "bag of potato chips" delicious, crunchy and satisfying.

I particularly like the Sean Dillon character. I started reading Jack Higgins years ago and then after a lapse in my reading habits, have started reading again. Dillon is quite the intriguing man...always up for a fight so to speak but underneath a big soft spot for those he really cares for.....he is smart, reliable, and in fact even honorable....his past activiites in the IRA surfaces from time to time in these fast paced stories. I've been a fan of jack Higggins' writings for quite a number of years and recommend them highly to those readers who enjoy intrigue.
It had been a couple years since I read The Sean Dillon Series, however this one was not the best but it was a good read. Too many characters, and I sort of got lost for awhile, but if you are familiar with the main characters, you can find your way back.
There were more typos than previous books, but all in all it was a good read.
I love the main characters in this series and an waiting to see what Ferguson and his crew will to next!!
I am a long time fan of Jack Higgins and Sean Dillon. Both my brother and I have read the entire Dillon series, and just about all his other books. 40+ years a fan. He is my hero as an author, and he is still going. The guy is 86 years old and still working and writing. I look forward to all his books and hope he can give us more. Thanks Jack.
Another exciting story building upon the characters from prior Higins' novels.
Higgins uses Sean Dillon much like Vince Flynn uses Mitch Rapp to provide the focal or point of the story.
As a result, the reader has the fun of reading another exciting Novell with the same, hero just in another setting.
I have now read six or seven Higgins 'a novels for the same reason; what will happen to Sean Dillon and the other supporting characters like General Ferguson, Roper and Bernstein in the new adventure.
A great read.q
this book was a definite good read. it's main character is Sean Dillon. he's an ex. I.R.A. soldier working with the British secret service. they rampage thru several different country's trying to take down a wealthy Russian oil baron help bent on taking out top political figures. it was exciting and keeps you turning the pages. I recommend it highly.
Good story, lots of action. Sean Dillon is the type that I suspect exists in today's counterterrorism field agencies. I wonder if Ms Novikova somehow survived the explosion and will reappear in another tale. I guess I'll have to get the next several Sean Dillon adventures to find out.
