Author Bishop, Claudia.

Hoping to buy back the Inn at Hemlock Falls, the Quilliam sisters are challenged when the body of a TV producer turns up on the grounds. Original.
I have been reading the Hemlock Falls mystery series by Claudia Bishop since
the first one. There were a few years when I had a hard time finding them in
bookstores, so now I am ordering them for my Kindle (not all titles are in
e-book form yet).

Meg and Quill (sisters who own and run the inn) are such interesting characters. Meg is a famous chef, and Quill is a famous artist, so they do have their quirks...which make them even more interesting.

Some of the residents of Hemlock Falls (yes, I realize it's not a real place)
are in every/or most of the books, and a couple of them are so annoying...just
like real life. If it was a real place I would love to go for a visit...and
stay in the inn.

Anyway, since most of the murders happen to guests of the inn, Quill and Meg
make it their business to try and solve the murders.

I really like this series. I guess it would be in the "cozy" genre. The
stories are nice, easy reading reading...not as compelling as some of Allison
Brennan's or Tess Gerritsen's books. I like having a selection of novels to
suit what I'm in the mood for at the time.

If you read "Marinade for Murder" (or other titles in the series), you will
find yourself wanting to sit on a porch with a hot cup of tea, hoping the
sisters solve the murder...and maybe you'll find yourself planning a trip to
a scenic, welcoming town like Hemlock Falls.
I really enjoy this series - probably because Claudia Bishop is a good writer. I love the descriptions of the gorgeous surroundings best. I don't like either one of the Quilliam sisters - perhaps their personalities would have evolved more if they had separated and lived their lives away from each other, but they did not and are locked in a permanent, very childish relationship, bickering back and forth without any actual conversation. They are both very high maintenance, self-centered and tedious. Having said that, I love the books anyway - the other characters are more amusing.
Claudia Bishop does it again with Marinade for Murder. Change is in the air as "Quill" and Myles have separated and Meg is moving to NYfor a new job and to marry Andy. In the midst of confusion, hurt feelings, chaos at the Inn, a murder occurs at the bottom of the Falls. A wonderful read for anyone who loves the cozy fireside mystery.
The Hemlock Falls mysteries are fun and really good on a Kindle for reading in doctor's offices and airports. Well written, entertaining characters. Always a slight plot twist. This one was no exception and I really enjoyed it.
