Lists and provides concise explanations of UNIX commands, and includes information on using the shell, text editors, and networks
This is a good reference book. I installed ubuntu as a flash drive OS and have been using it off and on while learning to interact with linux for work.
This introduction to UNIX is fantastic. It's not perfect but it is successful in providing a complete introductory framework to understanding UNIX. It's been my UNIX bible for 2 years. I always start with it and then supplement it with Google searches and MAN pages.
I never worked with unix before and when I found myself suddenly unemployed I thought I needed to learn and learn quickly. So I got this book because I am very fond of all the "for dummies" books. This one is just like the others, it explains the topic clearly and makes it easy for everyone to understand with basics pointed out and examples to help make everything clear and understandable. This book most likely will be of no use to anyone that is a power unix user, but for a beginner it is a great book to get you started. I now have a job where I use unix commands daily and this book helped me learn the basics.
I bought this book to prepare for job interview questions based on UNIX.
I have taken a couple of courses on the same but this book serves as quick reference handbook.
Thank you,
Books for Dummies has it down. It contained all the information I was looking to learn out of it.Just make sure if covers what youre looking for.
old fundamentals.. good but not worth as a study guide
Is perfect for what I need it for, as a reference and don't need to carry the book around. It's on my phone or IPad. Love the Kindle App.
Came in perfect state, despite my package was with a hole in it, I think somebody tried to see what was inside. But anyways, a good book for a good price.
