Sir Alex has an amazing story to tell and if you want to better understand the global love hate relationship with Manchester . I am not much of a soccer (or football) fan, but I enjoyed reading Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography, Managing My Life. Published on December 31, 2015.

Sir Alex has an amazing story to tell and if you want to better understand the global love hate relationship with Manchester United. no need to look further. This is not a book on soccer tactics although they are discussed, but instead is exactly what the the title states; the story of Ferguson's life. It is well written and he doesn't hold back or sugar coat any controversial happenings, he rather tells it as it is through his mind's eye which is refreshing and makes for an engaging read.

About the Author SIR ALEX FERGUSON Sir Alex Ferguson was born in 1941 in Govan, Scotland. A goal-scoring centre-forward, he was later transferred to Rangers, the club he supported from. And therefore, while briefly reflecting on my youth in Glasgow and life-long friends made in Aberdeen, it focuses on my magical years in Manchester. An avid reader myself, I was eager to write a book that explained some of the mysteries in my line of work. In a lifetime’s journey in football, you will have dips, lows, defeats and disappointments.

Alex Ferguson: My Autobiography is the second official autobiography of Alex Ferguson, the former football manager and player. It was released on 30 October 2013 and covers the period from 2000 to 2013. Ferguson says that he saw Manchester United "change from a conventional football club to what is now a major business enterprise and he never failed to move with the times.

1999 was an outstanding year for Alex Ferguson—not only did he lead Manchester United to a unique and outstanding treble triumph, but he was also awarded the highest honour for his sporting achievements—a Knighthood from the Queen. Universally respected for his tough but caring managerial style, Ferguson is an intelligent man with a fascinating life story. Covering his tough Govan upbringing through to his playing days and onto his shift into management, Managing My Life is told with a fine balance of biting controversy and human sensitivity.
It is with much expectations that I ordered this book, and after running through it at breakneck pace,it certainly didn't let me down.In fact,it justified the respect I have for this man who single-handedly turned the fortune of one of the biggest clubs in the world. For too many times he has been maligned and chided for losing the plot, but what he has done for the club deserved more.A thoroughly honest book, where Sir Alex went out of his way to explained all that has happened in his life, where he was born, his beginning in football, taking over St-Mirren,Aberdeen,and then Manchester United. The book has also been cited as one that managers of all industries and walks of life should read. The contents not only explained about football,it also explained about his philosophy in life, and the foundation of his management. It is truly inspirational, and I would recommend it to anyone who feel that his life is somehow lacking in directions and goals.Allow Sir Alex to guide you to your desired destination.
As a Liverpool FC fan,and he's the one that solely shifted the balance of England's "football power" from Merseyside to Manchester,I 'd better skip this one....But I'll tell you-read it.A must for any football fan.Sir Alex reveals it all.BTW I liked the earlier Scottish part of the book better and more interesting as his Manchester United journey is much better documented and I think is a bit compressed here.Earlier part with Scottish life/stories/humor and so on is much more valuable.Tells a lot how his character and winning mentality developed
Stellar read with much insight into football (soccer) at many different levels. Sir Alex has an amazing story to tell and if you want to better understand the global love hate relationship with Manchester United...no need to look further. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in seeing pure passion, leadership and hard work mold boys into men who win trophies and titles for the record books, but the greater achievement is their development of integrity and character that Sir Alex instills in them through tough love and discipline. Ferguson is always fighting the good fight, battle by battle and leading with a steadfast faith knowing that the end justifies the means. This book expanded my horizons (being from the states) and I couldn't put it down and am looking forward to hearing the rest of the story when it is all said and done.
Bought it for my husband he loves it
Provides a clear understanding of what it takes to win, and more directly, how to mold an organization into a winning team. Probably as useful a book for a person in leadership in any endeavor as it is for one whose focus is strictly football. Also for those of us growing up on this side of the pond (the US side), Sir Alex's book gives a very interesting account of what life was like growing up in Scotland in the '40s and '50s.
Great read for Glaswegians and football fans.
great, thank you!
Brings the great man to light. Look forward to the conclusion now that he is retired. Hope to learn a few management tricks.
