Reading Brown's book, you will notice that Stellar Theol-ogy and Masonic Astronomy forms the basis for much of today's religious concepts and belief structure, both in the assumptions and the expressions of today's religious, social, educational, corporate and governmental organizations. This incredibly detailed book reveals the hidden meanings behind occult signs and symbols from ancient times, found in what should be termed stellar theology, and then carried over into our modern world. An unabridged, digitally enlarged printing to include all illustrations by the author. Originally titled: Stellar Theology and Masonic Astronomy, or, The Origin and Meaning of Ancient and Modern Mysteries Explained
This work is an excellent revelation of the origins of our Craft ritual and symbology. It is presented in understandable (for me) dialogue. It presents an elementary explanation of zodiacal astronomy, and relates it to many of the procedures and phrases used in today's Masonic Temple, even though written 136 years ago. Really an amazing book for those interested in Masonic Enlightenment.
One of the most concise and on point books about astrology, numerology, esoteric sciences and the like. Profusely illustrated so much so the illiterate and semi literate can still benefit from it's lights and rights. The Freemasonic purist would benefit the most from this glorious work, but a total novice would also become more enlightened. Brother Brown's teachings on the number 7 and it's mystical astrological meanings are a must read. My edition of the book is quite a bit earlier, this book has been atop the Masonic book lists for awhile now. I would highly recommend this book to all those looking for Lux along with "The Huevolution of Sacred Muur Science Past and Present" by Noble Timothy Myers-EL and "African Origins of Freemasonry" by Zachary Gremillion
A short and simple explanation for the allegories of Freemasonry. It describes how the allegories of Freemasonry are basically a historical inference about ancient astrolatry. Very interesting read. Every Freemason should feel obligated to read this as it ranks up there with books like A Bridge of Light.
"Stellar Theology and Masonic Astronomy" by Robert Hewitt Brown is a classic; which, explains why a book first published in 1882 is still available today. This book is for anyone interested in the origins of religion and the mysteries schools. The portion of the title "Stellar Theology" perfectly describes what Brown addresses in part of the book. This section deals with the "Great Year", the 25,900 years precession of the zodiac cycle, and discusses the ages which corresponds to the each house of the zodiac.
For example, Brown discusses the ancient worship of the Bull 6000 to 4000 years ago during the age of Taurus, the Dagon during the age of Pisces, Heracles the lion slayer in the age of Leo, etc. Brown provides many other examples. The thesis being that religion stems from the worship of the stars. Astro-theology is another term for this.

After reading the book you will see symbols though new eyes; for example, the teramorphs, although not called this by Brown, is example of stellar symbolism hidden in plain sight of anyone who visits a gothic cathedral , but you will be able to decode the meaning of these symbols where the uninitiated seeing them won't comprehend the meaning.

The allegory of the birth and death of the sun, Jacob's Ladder, Joachim and Boaz, the Temple of Solomon, and the orientation of temples are explained.

This book is for anyone interested in myths, astro-theology, and masonic symbolism. I highly recommend this book and at only a little over 100 pages it is an easy read.

This review has nothing to do with the content. The text on the kindle edition is completely unreadable. When the text was scanned, much of the text was put in the wrong place - and in some cases, completely lost. I am still very interested in this book and will probably have to get a hardcopy version of it. Don't get the kindle version unless it is fixed!
good read
