Handling Qualitative Data introduces students and practitioners to qualitative research in a uniquely practical manner. Firstly, it recognizes that for many novice researchers, data, rather than methods and their philosophical underpinnings, are the point of departure. Secondly, it advocates a progressive accumulation of skills and understanding of methodological issues as they are needed. This enables the student to perform efficaciously from the start by immediately being in a position to handle, reflect upon and get results from, small amounts of data, giving them a launch pad to more complex endeavours.
This book is perfect for guiding for analyzing your qualitative data from beginning to end. This is a great book.
Great book, easy read especially when you are focusing on writing a thesis or disseration!
So far so good
Lyn Richards book is a superb guide for doing qualitative research in a systematic and credible way. As both a graduate student working on my dissertation and as a consultant, I find myself returning to this book often. My copy is dog-eared and there is hardly a page without a note or highlight.

My only caution is that this is not a stand-alone book for the qualitative research novice. It is not a theory book, it is exactly what it claims i.e., "a practical guide" for getting control and making sense of the mountain of data that characterizes qood qualitative research.

I strongly recommend this book.
This is not a very good book. It goes around in circles and it is not an easy read. Half of the book is a waste. The author could have gotten the information across in a third the amount of pages, and leave out information that is of no value. It took forever for the author to make her point.
