I have been interested in Australian SciFi recently, but took some time to track this down. It is rather dated as might be expected for an early work, so deals with familiar now themes of the rough and tumble activities of asteroid miners and the greed of big corporations. A familiar theme of Ben Bova and his series of four books on the asteroids.
Action adventure space sci-fi novella. A corporate rogue goes native in the far reaches of the asteroid belt amidst stirrings of anti-Earth sentiment. The main protagonist, a company fixer, is sent to find out what happened, neutralize the threat and minimize the damage with the usual plot twists and wooden dialogue of the pulp sci-fi genre. He uncovers a diabolical plan to destroy Earth and enlists local misfits to help him stop the disaster. Pedestrian pulp sci-fi with one dimensional characters and a plot as old as Ceres. Short (novella length), easy to read, fast paced, predictable.
