Written by authors who have won numerous awards for their research and writing on women and minority issues in American Government, this textbook offers an inclusive view of participants in the American political system. From this book, you will not only learn how government works but you will move on to the more controversial aspects of government, being exposed to actual people and experiences of government in action through the You Are There feature that opens each chapter, the suggested film lists at the ends the chapters, and the online exercises that support and enhance concepts found throughout the text.
Required book for school - enjoyed reading this material
I used this book as a textbook for my American Government class. Very useful and interesting to read by everyone, even outside of school.
This was a great find. My daughter was on a budget as were we so when it came to buying books we looked around and found this seller. Prices are really good.
This book, being a recently revised edition, presents U.S. Governmental History from a fresh current and unbiased perspective. I recommend every adult citizen to read this book or something like it every 10 years. Let's not forget how and why we do things the way we do.
Good book for the class. A bit overpriced I think, but that is normal for textbooks. Lots of useful info and a good general coverage of the fundamentals of American Government.
The authors have done a rather textbook version of the same information. The previous editions of this book are much more readable and enjoyable.
really great condition and arrived earlier than I expected!
This book does contain facts about government, but it has a clear leftist bias - it actually suggests that media figures are biased towards the right...hilarious. It promotes many leftist philosophies such as the judiciary using their power to create case law (i.e. take on the role of the legislative branch). The bias isn't quite as bad as the mainstream news media, but it is there. Buy it if you must, but make sure you balance it out by also listening to opinions and views on the right. For those of you who are not political, in very broad, general terms, left = Democrat, right = Republican.
