Ideal for residents, interns, and medical students, The Washington Manual® of Pediatrics provides concise rapid-access information to be used while on call, in a critical care setting, in the emergency unit, and in subspecialty outpatient clinics. Organized by organ system, the book outlines established approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of common inpatient pediatric problems. It includes ample tables, algorithms, and evidence-based references, plus full-color dermatology and infectious disease sections, a formulary, and pocket cards for quick reference.

A companion Website will offer the fully searchable text, quarterly drug updates, and an image bank of dermatology and infectious disease photos.

Very practical and objective!
Great!
Used it for my pediatric rotation. It did not have enough information to cover any disease, treatment or plan. It is useless.
Do not bother with the kindle version. The formatting of tables/flowcharts is abysmal. The image files are low resolution and cannot be read either zoomed out (text to small) or zoomed in (text too blurry).
I returned mine for a refund. Will get the print version.
Book in excellent condition.
What a great reference! Its small so it can easily fit into the pocket of a busy resident/attending. I love the additions that were not present in the first edition, such as an entire chapter on Child Maltreatment! Andrew J. White has managed to pull together the top experts in all of the pediatric medical fields to compile this book. It is an easy to read, excellent resource; should be required for all pediatricians.
This is a great little book for your white coat pocket! It fits perfectly and is neither too big nor too small. It has just the right amount of information to make you look well read without having to tackle the big textbooks. The formularly is particularly easy to use, with the medications listed in a simple format...easy to look up, with simple conversions included. In a short time, it has become my go-to source keeping me knowledgable and up to speed.
As a pediatric resident there are probably 2 handbooks that you need to get started.
1) Inpatient guide to pediatrics (CHOP)
2) Washington Manual

Inpatient guide is very good for specific disease eval and treatment. What sets this apart from the others is that is offers a pathway to go down. For example, take a look in the neonatology section - "approach to the newborn with a murmur" or in the rheumatology section - "approach to the limping child." Very useful.
