A tale of love, betrayal, of ambition and revenge. I enjoyed this book mainly because of the well-developed characters. No one was all good or all bad, like in so many novels. I especially liked the way the author wrote different chapters from the perspectives of the three main characters, letting each one speak for him/herself, instead of the usual method of writing the entire book from one character's viewpoint. It let the reader see the story from different perspectives and explained the motivation behind the characters' actions.

They grew up together in the great hall and lonely marshes of Ravensley. From playmates they grew to be lovers. Then from the darkness of exile came Oliver's uncle Justin, and in one night this man of chilling mystery and ruthless strength wrested from Oliver both his lands and his lady. But this was only the beginning of the savage struggle of love and lust, honor and treachery, courage and cruelty, that would strip bare the most unspeakable human secrets and decide who ultimately would be - LORD OF RAVENSLEY.
