The Lean Pocket Handbook for Kaizen Events- Any Industry- Any Time by Don Tapping.

A successful Kaizen Event can only occur if team members feel and have ownership of what is being improved. Even though the outcome of the event may improve their daily work activities, just by them being on the team does not guarantee ownership. However, the writing by each team member in this book will help to contribute a new sense of ownership - that necessary ingredient in any successful Kaizen Event. They will feel more part of the team. The Lean Pocket Handbook for Kaizen Events is your personal (i.e., individual) Lean planner for the 21st century. We have found individuals that use this pocket handbook feel more part of the Kaizen team. They also continue to contribute improvement ideas well past the formal team Kaizen Event. That is what Lean is all about - making those small, incremental, improvements daily (i.e., hour-by-hour and minute-by-minute) by those closest to the process. This handbook is designed to be: 1. A quick-reference guide. 2. Your individual (i.e., personal) log. 3. Your personal Kaizen planner. 4. A tool to self-initiate Idea Kaizens. 5. A learning tool. Each topic will have 4 pages. The first page will define the tool and provide a brief description. The second page will provide a simple flowchart of how that tool can be used effectively. This flowchart is meant to serve as a catalyst (and guideline) to stimulate ideas for the possible use of that tool in the Kaizen Event. The third page will provide illustrations demonstrating the tool as it is being used. This page will also contain an area for any notes that may be taken. The fourth page will be your personal Lean log and planner. This page is meant for you to write anything and everything down that you must do in support of the Kaizen Event. Idea Kaizen references can be noted here for investigation and implementation at a later date.
I'm absolutely disappointed with kindle textbooks in general as they don't have real page numbers. I am not able to locate assigned page numbers for reading in my classes. If you use your computer for readings or old version of kindle reader you are not able to access pages. Even if you do have new kindle, many of the books does not include pages which are important for students.

This particular book does not have page numbers, only locations. If you want to guess or email your professor every time to ask where the assigned pages are, go and buy this book. I do not recommend kindle textbooks for college at all.
This is a helpful tool for Kaizen events. The only thing that I would change is to make it a bit larger because there are charts that are difficult to read because of the small print and areas where they would like you to record things are very small.
This is great. I had always heard about kaizen counsel but didnt understand what it ment. This will give you an edge on co workers, or help you seem more knowlageable in meetings or with your peers, and managers.
I had the opportunity to participate in a Kaizen session with a client a few years ago. This is one of the best business planning and leadership tool I have encountered in my 35 years in business.
great book Learning a bunch
I'm going to have to read these descriptions better. This lean pocket handbook is 3 X 5. I missed it. I thought this was a regular-sized book. The pages are dotted with helpful icons about using the worksheets, but it is unusable for that. It reminds me of that cartoon that gives you about 1/4" square to write your complaints with the admonition, please write legibly. An e-book would have been a better choice, at least I could zoom in. There are fonts that end up being less than 6.5, so some sections are unreadable. Final rating, content=5, presentation=1, average=3
It is an excelent book for my job, all tools that I need It can be found on this book
Any Lean effort is based in a good comunication from the company goals to the shop floor. Kaizen events need to be fast and direct to the point, in these moments this Pocket Handbook come to play. In a few steps it gives you a good walk through procedure that everyone can understand and accomplish.
