Living in Illinois, our gardens "look dead" for much of the year. So I plan the gardens while thinking about how they'll look during all four seasons. This book has gorgeous photos and it fits my gardening style. I'd like to copy some of the designs exactly as they are in the book. It also tells you the plants in the photos so you can research and see if the plants will fit in your climate and garden. If you are looking for inspiration -- because rarely do we get opportunity to see very nice winter gardens that show winter color and textures -- this book delivers.
This book was pretty good in general. There were a lot of plant recommendations. The pictures are nice. However, the author did not include the range of zones that each plant is hardy in. I wish she had. I can look them up on my own, but it's a bummer to get an idea in your mind, then find out that the plant you want to feature is only hardy to zone 6 when you live in zone 4.
this is a fabulous book. everytime i read it, which is from nov - feb, i discover something new. great photos and detailed plant info. full of ideas for the winter garden.
