Bob Broeg, American writer. Recipient National Sportscasters, Sportswriters awards Missouri, 1962-1965, 67; Journalism medal University Missouri, 1971; Faculty-Alumni award University Missouri, 1969, Hall of Fame Writing award, 1980; elected to Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, 1978, National writers Hall of Fame, 1997, National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame, 1998, Missouri Sports Legend, 2000. Broeg was partially responsible for the famous picture of Eddie Gaedel at the plate in 1951. He told the photographer to stay at the game until Gaedel came to the plate and the picture was taken.

Bob Broeg, sports writer and editor for the St. Louis Post Dispatch has written an informal history of the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals focusing more on the players than the teams.
