Tucker Gibbons is sure he has been fatally wounded by one of the three criminals he is in pursuit of. He recovers through the help of a strange woman, Hannah Morgan, who then vanishes without thanks. Tucker goes in pursuit of his rescuer and finds himself drawn into her quest.
Enjoyed it, and others of this same author. He put in a lot of work on research, he keeps the interest up.
Let me first of all tell you a bit about myself, so you know exactly where this review is coming from.
I was a literature major in college and have ready many many books from many different genres from the classics to hard-boiled detective novels, non-fiction, fantasy, etc. I do try, as I have limited time on this earth, to read GOOD books unless necessary to slum it, like the one time I tried to join a book club at the library and gave up after reading one of their selections and not even getting past the second page of the next book.
I am not a full-fledged western lover...I love western movies, but St. Agnes' Stand may have been the first western novel I read. (Somehow this genre escaped me until now).
I always have at least two books I am reading at a time.
I say this all, not because I am arrogant, but because I want you to know where this review is coming from and how tough a critic I am (again, not trying to be arrogant, but it is just true, ask my husband, I am hard to impress!) and because I want everyone to read this book. All of Thomas Eidson's books for that matter.

Hannah's Gift is a truly beautiful book. It may be a perfect book. It was the very last of his books I read, the first being the unsurpassable St. Agnes's Stand (which is another perfect book). As in all Eidson's books, the west is depicted with loving, beautiful, non-supfluous prose. The characters are compelling, the action intriguing, and you never know quite what is going on--in the best way! St. Agnes's Stand took my breath away, Souls of Angels made me weep (not a common occurrence, let me assure you), All God's Children filled my heart, The Missing--well, that was my least favorite, but still a great novel, but at the end of Hannah's Gift I felt...clean, free, uplifted in a way that felt like I was going to burst with joy. As I said, I always have at least two book going on at once, but when I finished Hannah's Gift, I though, "if this was the last book I ever read, if I had to live on this book for the rest of my life, I would be okay with that." Now, being a book-lover I did pick up another book but not for a good week and then it was Stella Gibbons' Cold Comfort Farm, which is about as far from Hannah's Gift as you can get. I was not ready for anything more intense than the Starkadders and Aimless, Graceless, Pointless, and Feckless. Thomas Eidson is firmly lodged in my top three favorite authors. Everyone should read his books, and tell others about his books. Hannah's Gift is just that, a beautiful gift. Thank you,
Thomas Eidson! When is the next book coming out???
