Book by Joan Bauer
Most of all, I love the characters! I love Hildy's passsion and her journalistic integrity. I love the character of Minska, who grew up in Communist Poland, and her relationship with Hildy and her friends. And I love the stern character of Baker Polton and his slew of wonderful journalistic tidbits. Some of the situations were a little "too much" like Pen Piedmont's editorials, the antics of the nefarious mayor, and the kids' opportune glomming on to a professional newspaperman for their new advisor, but it was still a fun read and I'm going to read more of Joan Bauer's books.
"this book had a very good story line and good characters." as per my 13 yr old adhd son who would actually pick this book up on his own to read without my haggling every week!! so it must be good :-)
My son had to read the book for the school summer reading assignment. Never a fun task as he prefers sci-fi, fantasy novels. Turns out he liked it. Each night he filled me in on the latest happenings of the children in the book.
My daughter read this as part of her summer reading for school. She enjoyed it.
Not the calibur of her other works, but feel it show or exposes a spoof that needs to be dispelled about yellow journalism
Nice
This book was really good besides the fact that the first part was a little slow. I chose this book for a summer project for school and I think it was a great choice. Overall I do recommend it .
Very well done, great for all ages. Hildy takes on the political establishment and creates an awareness.
