Peter Alexander Haining (2 April 1940 – 19 November 2007) was a British journalist, author and anthologist who lived and worked in Suffolk. Born in Enfield, Middlesex, Haining began his career as a reporter in Essex and then moved to London where he worked on a trade magazine before joining the publishing house of New English Library in 1963.

Peter Haining was the author of a number of deluxe format non-fiction books about the history of Doctor Who that were published in the 1980s and early 1990s. The Key to Time: A Year by Year Record.

Provides brief biography for the first nine doctors (including Paul McGann), plus some small extras on other key writers, producer etc. But in general terms it doesn't really provide much extra detail than the other Doctor Who books (and DVD extra etc), and a limited set of photographs. Not worth the bookshelf space, so though I enjoyed reading my copy, it will going to the charity shop.
