Love Tess Gerritsen books. Borrowed a book many years ago from a friend and got hooked.
good
another great story by a great writer. Even when a story line seems to be not of interest to me, she gets me involved anyway
I did not realize Tess Gerritsen had written romantic thrillers before breaking onto the best seller list with her medical/detective novels. This looked like a crime novel so I picked it up and I greatly enjoyed it.
The novel shows Gerritsen's strengths without her later graphic prose. The characters are very interesting, the plot is credible and the pace is swift. Frankly, I'm a bit tired of books about serial killers. They make great fiction but can be taken only in small doses.
If you enjoyed Gerritsen's later works, you should like this one too. It can stand on its own as a superb mystery with an element of romance. You can see the author's later development but this novel is nothing to be ashamed of.
Stolen was originally published as Thief of Hearts in 1995,under the Harlequin imprint and this is not therefore a new work by any means .It is not the type of book with which its author is now primarily associated -the medical thriller and cop novels but rather a glossy romantic tale with a hint of such movies as Charade about it .

It opens on the high seas when an explosion destroys a ship ,the Max HavelaarWhen another vessel arrives it is not to rescue the survivors but rather to kill them in cold blood .The action then switches to London where a young woman ,Veronica Cairncross, persuades an eligible man about town ,Justin Tavistock to break into the apartment of her former lover ,the art collector Guy Delancey and retrieve some compromising love letters which seem likely to destroy her marriage to the dull but wealthy Oliver .While carrying out -reluctantly-his assignment he interrupts another ,more professional burglar the attractive young American Clea .She is seeking a priceless antique dagger ,the Eye of Kashmir which she believes is the key to uncovering a massive insurance scam perpetrated by the ruthless Victor Van Weldon ,the man behind the destruction of the ship and the murder of its crew .Cue a chase thriller as Clea and Justin become attracted to each other in between fending off attacks from Van Weldon's minions with some assistance from the British authorities. There is lots of lively action and hairsbreadth escapes in a lively if not very deep adventure yarn .

It is not as dark and blood soaked as Gerritsen's later thrillers and will best be enjoyed by readers of romantic thrillers rather than the audience for her grittier crime noverls of recent years .Slick and formulaic this is still a lively time passer
i NEED TO RETURN THIS BOOK, I ALREADY HAVE IT
