In Visual Contrast, Tim Rundle reveals key techniques for styling your home by reworking what you already have.Tim Rundle takes a look at Shape, Color, Placement, and Personality and reveals how these seemingly abstract concepts are, in fact, the stylist’s essential tools and the key to a beautiful, practical, and individual home. Using dozens of examples of real-life homes and plenty of insightful practical advice, Tim analyses successful interiors, explains the basics of a well-designed space, shows how to bring out the best in what you already own, and discusses the elusive art of arrangement and display. His secret weapon is visual contrast, which creates a dynamic visual dialogue between objects and spaces, resulting in an interior that’s full of personality, style, and unexpected combinations.
I saw this book in a bookstore and loved the juxtaposition of contrasting styles, colors, textures, etc. Came home and ordered it. It gave me a whirlwind of new configurations to use in my own home and art.
Inspirational, educational, and great fun, this book is perfect for those aspiring to bring their collectibles and decor together in a thoughtful and interesting way. With knowledgeable advice and practical design concepts along with beautifully shot examples of his extraordinary talent, Mr. Rundle creates an excitement for his readers about the creativity and personality each of us can inject into our own spaces.
I love this book! The ideas, the photos are amazing and inspiring. The only minor drawback is sometimes the text gets too overwhelming, but other than that this book is one of my favorites
One of my top favorite decor books, hands down. If you like collecting things, creating smart and crisp vignettes out of them, this book is for you.
A great book!
I received this book yesterday after preordering and then patiently waiting through release delays. To say that it's worth the wait is a bit of an understatement. This is a beautiful book in both content and layout. The photography and styling are inspiring to the point of motivating this reader to take action. The ton of useful information that's included in the text is just icing on the cake.

If you're a fan of the books of Emily Chalmers and Holly Becker, then I would say that this book is a safe bet. If you like roaming the flea markets, antique fairs, and thrift stores in search of unique items to add to your eclectically styled interior, you'll love this book. I have a large collection of design books, and I expect this one will become a favorite.
i received this book as a gift. I have many interiors/architecture books and this is unique. It looks at rooms and the objects in them from very specific points of view, such as: shape and scale; not just the colors red, yellow, blue - but the tone and temperature of colors; considerations of placement - horizontal or vertical, many collected things or a single item, organized in a symmetrical way or randomly; and then about one's personality - serious, playful, ethnic or not, modern or antigues. All this leads to a deeper conception of how to put things together and how to think differently about that. Along with Tim Rundle's thoughtful discussions are Polly Wreford's photos. They are rich with detail, color and variety. This would make an especially good textbook. But it is also a beautifully produced coffee table book. It is just loaded with rich ideas for everyone from flea market types to serious antique collectors.
