The application of modelling and simulation is unconstrained by discipline boundaries. Unconstrained by discipline boundaries, this book presents the fundamentals necessary to understand the many important facets of the modeling and simulation methodology. It provides support for the planning, design and evaluation of system behaviour, as well as the evaluation of strategies for dynamic system transformation and change. For example, a novel project-oriented approach clearly reveals the dependency of model structure and granularity on project goals. Features include: • A goal (. project) oriented approach for developing the modelling and simulation methodology.

Her adventurous style in mixed-media art appeared in her first book, Collage Playground (North Light May, 2010). She has also been published in HOW magazine, Somerset Studio, and Cloth Paper Scissors. Excellent book for the beginner to intermediate level artist, with a few tips even the most experienced can appreciate. The author describes the most common materials, adhesives, tools, et. and a few non-conventional substrates (base) and materials so the developing artist can be inspired to think how their art might take an unusual and unique direction.

91 color pages full of innovative projects & fun techniques.
I don't know that all the reviews of this book are necessarily fair - or maybe it's that they are uninformed?

I happen to know the ladies who published this book. True, it may not have all the stunning photographs of other mixed media books available right now - but does anyone realize these women did this book entirely on their own?? It is a self-published book, meaning they didn't have the advantage of professional photography or studios. They wanted to share their creativity and techniques with others, so they wrote and published this book. I think it's a book full of great ideas - especially those new to mixed media. The name of the book is "Exploring the Latest Trends in Mixed Media Arts: Projects and Techniques" - which describes, exactly, what one will find between the covers.

The world of mixed media is difficult: so many ideas, techniques, and projects seem to spring to life at once. Mixed media artists - and artists in general, for the most part - are a special breed. We are not "technique hoarders" - everyone loves to share techniques and help each other. That can cause issues for someone writing a book - if you haven't "given birth" to a whole new technique, or at least come up with many ways to use something before anyone else has (think Leslie Riley and Lutradur), it's difficult - if not impossible - to write a book on mixed media techniques that you can say are "yours" - without stepping on any toes. I think these ladies did a phenomenal job of doing just that - they presented some pieces they made, explained the steps and materials they used, and showed examples of the work. To me, that is precisely what the book title promises.

If you want to explore some of the latest trends in the mixed media art movement, this is a great book and definitely worth checking out. If you are heavily into mixed media, up on all the "latest" and "greatest", this may not be the best book for you. Like I said, I love each of the ladies who contributed to this book - they are each talented, knowledgeable, and able to explain things well. Scrapbookers or others looking to infuse their craftiness with something extra, will probably benefit highly from this book. There are several really cool projects to create - and anyone crafty should have the supplies (or substitutions) on-hand to follow along. If not, the materials are easily acquired - and aren't some mystical something-or-other you must have a secret supplier to get.

The pictures aren't perfect. The paper is matte. There aren't 101 new project ideas. So what? The title of the book is not "101 New Techniques and Project Ideas Presented on the Highest Quality Glossy Paper and Oh Yeah, Look at Our Amazing Photography". If that's what you want, go elsewhere or you will be disappointed. On the other hand, if you are looking for some of the latest trends in mixed media art, this is a great publication. The pictures aren't "horrible" - the pictures, just like the techniques written about, can certainly add to your repertoire of techniques. Give it a chance - you just might really like it.
The cover and title were enticing but, it's been printed on matte paper which makes it look unprofessional and the photos unclear. The title is deceptive, there is no exploring of techniques. However, you will find a book full of creative examples of mixed-media artwork with supply lists and brief instructions.
This technique book fell short of expectations. I am a mixed media artist and am on the constant outlook for new trends and techniques. This book really didn't offer anything "new". I have seen most of the techniques in other publications.

The second thing that fell short were the photographs of the art work. A lot of them were too dark, or distorted, and didn't really display the finished pieces well. That was really disappointing.

Honestly, there are other technique books out there that are much better with great photos and the same techniques. Nothing really new here.
I am one of 5 ladies at ScrapFriends (an online resource) that reviewed this book and I have to say that I loved it! As a scrapbooker, I find that learning more about Mixed Media is helping me to design pages that are more pleasing to the eye and also getting my photos out of books and into my home decor where everyone can enjoy them. For me, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Lots of helpful tips throughout the book! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is interested in Mixed Media art, especially scrapbookers who are wanting to take their art to a new level!
This is one of the best technique resources for beginning or experienced mixed media artists! It is well photographed, and has very detailed instructions. It is very easy to follow each project and provides a wealth of information and tips. Two thumbs up to the authors!! I can't wait for the next volume.
Unlike many of the mixed-media books out there this book is chock full of beautiful and fun projects. Projects that you can create with many of the supplies you already have on hand too. And the projects are high quality, beautiful items that you will be proud to display or sell. This book will keep me busy far into next year, I hope to have many of these pieces completed before the authors publish the next volume!
This is one of the best books to buy if you are looking to learn new techniques and projects in the mixed media art field. There are step by step instructions to do so many wonderful projects. This gets a gold star.
