The first, favorite, and most trusted, price guide to all types of dolls is even more colorful and reader-friendly in its 14th edition. It is organized into an "Antique" section which covers the manufacturers of the bisque, china, wax, wood, cloth and papier-mache dolls of the 19th and early 20th century and a "Modern" section which covers the makers of composition, hard plastic, vinyl, artists' dolls and more. Everyone 'into' vintage dolls knows that the Blue Books are a wonderful resource, whether trying to identify dolls, or simply enjoying the information that comes along with dolls in which you're interested, or trying to obtain. Of course, I hope it goes without saying that the value lists are always outdated and unrealistic in this type of book.....the realistic method is checking the 'sold' list for a particular doll/condition on Ebay or similar websites.
The Blue Book contains a terrific amount of information for all collectors! It is a guide, and market conditions greatly influence any price - so prices do vary. A great carry along to any auction, or sale! I wish that the Antique and Modern doll information would be split into two books - as I find it a bit distracting having to wade through information I am not interested in. Hopefully in the future this can be done and there will be a strictly antique and a separate modern value guide.

All-in-all, a fantastic reference guide to prices and identification.
Love this book very informative
It was not what I hoped it would nothing against the book
Just what I was looking for and received quickly and with no drama! I recommend them. This was a new book.
My sister loved the book. It was just what she wanted. She said it was a nice book. Thank you.
First this isn't an ID guide and no one should approach it as such. Books for the purposes of identification abound. The Blue Book assumes you have ID'ed your doll. Second, this is a guide and more importantly it is a HISTORY of values (prices paid at shows, auctions, etc.) since the last one was published. The market has a way of fluctuating and the book is not gospel, just a guide. If you're buying, you can expect to pay more or less than the book indicates. Keep that history part in mind...! If you're selling... well, these are "retail" prices by-in-large. Selling to a dealer will never net you retail. The Blue Book is still the best of its sort around!
I normally enjoy Jan's works on dolls. However, I was disappointed by the lack of documentation on such important features as marks and identification of manufacturers. I realize no book can be the definitive documentation on all dolls ever produced, but had Jan included more specific information, it would have eliminated some matches for me. As such, even for dolls I might have considered mine to be, I couldn't match or dismiss them.
