Modern witches devote themselves to evoking and guiding the forces of the natural world to the benefit of humanity. Moura, a high school history teacher, is a practicing witch who has written several books on the practice of witchcraft and its nature-oriented spirituality. Here she goes a step further and tries to show that Wicca derives from the faith of the ancient Dravidians of the Indus Valley. She argues that Dravidian-like religions spread through all of south Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa

On top of this, Mormons believe that other books are sacred in addition to the Bible, like The Book of Mormon, and a few other books that have been written in the last 100 years, or so. They are ferocious, and she thinks of them as very strong animals, though she prefers dragons. Thats a good machine," said the salesman. Its a really good hook.

Christianity began at the start of the common era. Judaism began a few thousand years before that. Religion in Egypt and Sumer go maybe a few thousand years before that. But what came before? Most people don't know that civilization began at Sind, a fertile area in modern Pakistan. Their ancient religion, the worship of Shiva and Shakti, is the oldest religion known. It spread throughout the world and it, reactions to it, or a combination of the two are the basis for all religion in the world today. Does this sound surprising? Historian and former history teacher Ann Moura has been able to trace civilization and religion into the past by over 100,000 years! She presents this information in Origins of Modern Witchcraft. The author reveals that virtually every aspect of modern Witchcraft can be traced back to the ancient Sind religion. Much of the same can be found in modern Hinduism, but Hinduism has had many Vedic ideas – including orthodoxy and caste – added to the original faith. Even so, the notion of the triple goddess (a Maiden, Mother, and Crone) comes straight from the older religion. The idea of the God being horned is derived from an image of Shiva. Many of the mythic images we associate with Greece and Rome originally came from the Sind religion. But this goes beyond Wicca to other religions. You'll see that Christ was a version of Krishna and "original sin" was a development of those who hated the original religion. It means that something was evil because it originally came from Sind. Controversial? You bet! This book is destined to be one of the most controversial books published this or any other year! But the author has listed all of her sources. Excellently-researched, well-written, well-argued, provocative, and interesting account of the origins of human civilization, the Aryan invasion, the origins of the major Eastern and Western religions, and the affects of early Christianity on the pagan world, as well as a clear and cohesive account of how each of these things plays a part in the history of modern witchcraft. This book provides a long-overdue, uncensored account of each of these areas, and convincingly calls into question the status quo--along with its long-held, but highly-questionable, "historical" accounts, and its overly-simplistic answers to complex questions. Whether one agrees with Moura's conclusions or calls them into question, this is a must-read book, on my view, for both Christians and pagans alike, in that it brings to light information that has been intentionally ignored and minimized, and even, at times, suppressed, for reasons that have more to do with politics and power than they do with historical accuracy. This book is easy to read, clear, and intelligently written, and I give it my highest recommendation.
This book as is great for anyone that wants to learn the history. I wish I could find more books that are able to talk about the history. I guess being persecuted for so long not many people were willing to have things in their possession that was written.
Ann Moura tends to bash too much in this work for my taste. Not only does she bash many Judeo-Christian beliefs, but she bashes other traditions of Witchcraft other than her own Green Witch tradition. The theories, however, of how religions are entertwined, that belief systems can usually be traced to related origins are very interesting and intriguing. I think I've learned more about ancient civilizations (on the surface) than I did in HS history class.

The first two chapters are a complete bear to get through. If you can make it past that, you'll be OK. Very heavy in the dates and ancient geography that you've probably forgotten.
Excellent book on a different perspective of the spiritual part of Witchcraft. Highly recommend it!
Then this is your book. I was looking for a book of instruction rather than a history book. Thank you
It was exactly what I expected. The said it was used, but writing was minimal and the cover, though a little dirty was in decent shape.
Didn't get her thesis. Hard to understand unless you hold a PhD in world history.
Book was in a fair acceptable condition.
