Vikings : Recreated in Colour Photographs. by Britta Nurmann, Carl Schulze, Torsten Verhülsdonk. The exploration of the Viking age is aided today by the efforts of 'living history' groups in several countries. Their painstaking reconstruction of the material evidence of Viking life, in peace and war, is recorded in this fascinating selection of nearly 200 colour photographs of historical re-enactment from Scandinavia, Germany and Britain, accompanied by full captions and a concise but detailed historical text.

This hard-to-find volume of color photographs, many of which I believe were produced by the Regia Anglorum, are well worth the purchase price of this book - especially if you're a re-enactor. You can see details quite well, and if you're wanting to make your own Norse crafts this is an excellent resource. Don't pass it up!
Like Embleton's other Europa Militaria title, Medieval Military Costume, this book is informative and crammed with glorious full-color photographs of serious reenactors. However, because there is less definitive information available about Viking-period reenactment, particularly about period costume, some of the photographs are misleading (for example, a number of the women depicted wear the "two pieces of cloth" recreated style of apron dress, a version which arose from a mistranslation and has now been generally discredited). Still, the book is inspiring, and I'm glad I own a copy.
While I found the history to be a bit light, the photographs are worth the asking price. Not only are arms and armor featured, but also photos of clothing, cookware and equipment. The full color photos of the reenactors are noted by the authors, and even a few historical discrepencies pointed out. All in all this would make good reference material for reenactors and Faire enthusiasts.
These are excellent photos of re-enactors garbed as Vikings to create a medieval era.

Re-enactment history is not definitive. It is experimental. The re-enactors test fit and wear plausible items of costume and armour as described or depicted in ancient texts and evaluate the validity of their reconstruction by direct immersion in the period.
