Well, Tom Antion in his book Electronic Marketing for Small Businesses is that kind of tactic book. A TACTIC BIBLE you might say!!! Although it was published in 2005 and I read it in Feb of 2010, I was concerned it would be to out of date. But to my surprise, it wasn't and you can still use these TACTICS AND RESOURCES any day. This book has awesome specific content and a bunch of "HOW TO" information.

The The Ultimate Electronic Marketing for Small Business is the non-techies' guide to marketing on the internet.

I found this book amazingly helpful if not a bit simplistic. Nevertheless, some of the best ideas are taught in a simplistic manner and this book does not disappoint. Anyone engaged in marketing his or her business on the web will find a great deal of useful information in this title.

Tom Antion takes you from the basics to more advanced concepts and practical application of internet marketing as you advance through the text. The book is loaded with tidbits of information about a broad spectrum of internet marketing topics. He covers the most important areas in great depth and other, less critical, areas only topically. I particularly liked the level of detail provided on how to select an industrial strength shopping cart and web host provider. Believe me, it's quite thorough; the best I've ever seen in fact.

He goes on to discuss in reasonable detail the "Mechanics of Website Sales", electronic publishing, and product development. He also did an outstanding job covering gateway websites, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - including text link frequency and title & meta tag creation, optimized content, and how to leverage sub-store sites. I felt like a SEO heavyweight after reading that section!

His writing style is interesting and the book is filled with many useful links but some of them no longer work. Still, even non-working links give you a starting point to search for more current information. Also, many of the recommendations are affiliate links for which he gets a commission. I don't object to such self-promotion so long as the author is as up front about it as Mr. Antion.

For a 294 page paperback it packs quite a wallop. I highly recommend this book if you're at all interested in promoting a website on the Internet. Five stars from me!
This book is a great example for all of us that believe that riches can be made purely through the Internet - such as the "I wake up and have $3,000 of orders in my email box each day." dreams.

Yes, you can make this kind of money, but your chances are slim - the competition is fierce. Antion's book gives tons of great strategies for your e-biz, that many overlook. He then mixes these with some flesh-and-blood applications so we are not totally dependent on our search engine rankings.

He is not overly technical, as we learn that he was a public-speaking guy that slid in the side door to the ebiz world. This is a plus, as his presentation flows well and draws examples.

The insane amount of affiliate advertising gets old, but hey - the book is a great example of what he preaches.

If you don't make back the 13 dollars you spend on the book, there is something wrong with you :)

Some internet marketing books will discuss general principles or theories. Some of which help but are not specific tools which get you going with your internet marketing. In general, books about principles answer why your marketing works or doesn't work. Tactics are all about how something specifically works. Well, Tom Antion in his book Electronic Marketing for Small Businesses is that kind of tactic book. A TACTIC BIBLE you might say!!! This book has awesome specific content and a bunch of "HOW TO" information. Tom wants you to have the best here...His chapters focus on setting up a website, the mechanics of website, e-magazines, product development, and setting up international websites. Although some other internet gurus mention that TACTICS can become obsolete over time, I think TACTICS like autoresponders, e-zine articles, opt in boxes, upsells, adtracking, ad rotations,e-books,pop ups, link tricks, joint ventures, blogging, rss feeds, and article syndication will not simply disapear. Toms book has sord of proven that to me.. Five years later and I believe you can still get great results with this book.

Tom enjoys getting very, very specific on these topics, and I personally enjoyed his content on E-Zine Strategy. For the amount I paid for this book and the value of superb RICH content it has, I would say that this book is a "MUST" for everyone who is a newbie or recently new in the internet marketing business. Tom believes in providing top notch killer content in your blog, or website and that is what he precisely did here with this book.

The only thing I found out of date on this book was the free keyword tool he describes on page 19 from [...] which does not exist anymore.

In conclusion, this is the very first internet hardcover marketing book I have read and I was fascinated the whole way. I believe I hit the Jackpot by reading this book first because I feel I'm well on my way targeting my online course of action. If your like me, who reads abundantly on the internet about marketing but does not know where to start. This book is a great help! This book should be one of 10 great books a newbie should read.
I bought this after hearing Tom speak at the National Speakers Association Meeting in Washington a couple of months ago.

I must be honest, that I was very sceptical. It all seemed to be too good to be true. But this book has made a believer of me!

I am a complete Internet newbie, so I'm sure that some of this material will be very basic for more seasoned hands, but for someone just getting started, there is a treasure trove of useful information. As might be expected, some of the web addresses aren't good any more, but actually surprisingly few.

Tom does inded promote himself and his products quite shamelessly, but not in any obnoxious way: I found it pleasantly amusing. The fact is that he is one of a growing band of people who really have made the Internet work for them by providing much needed services.

I've even bought a copy from our Web Meister, who probably knows it all already, but will, I am sure, find some useful gems in the book.

This is an outstandingly useful introduction for anyone starting out on the road to successful Electronic Marketing.
