There are a number of strong examples and points in this book that struck a chord with me. The main theme of the book is of course the war we wage with Satan, whether we realize it or not. I recently commented to someone who had signed their email "Peace" that peace is a temporary state while someone plots to steal it away from us. Vigilance and wisdom was my recommendation, and author David Kortje echoes that throughout this book.

There were several other points that really helped me connect with why Mr. Kortje wrote this book. I love the story in the forward about him being awake at 4 in the morning, not able to sleep, and how the chapters just laid themselves out through God's voice speaking to him. I have used this as an idea to ask myself, "I'm awake when I should be sleeping. Does God have a message for me? Does God need to hear from me?" There are numerous references to other books, movies, and authors for anyone wanting to grow their knowledge base. I also related to the example of Moses in middle-age (which the author and I are also), being called to do God's work. No matter our age, our place in life, our state of complacency, when God calls - answer Him!

Great book, full of mental images and a powerful message to wake anyone from a spirtual stupor and gird them for the battle we must all face with courage and strength.

Vigilance and wisdom...
Right off let me tell you that you simply must have this book if you are truly trying to walk with the Lord Jesus. I have read countless books on the warfare that we as Christians will incur as we walk the walk, but very, and I mean very few can even come close to the honesty and truth that this book holds for you. I know, because I have been there and still am as I continue my Christian walk. It was refreshing to finally see someone had the strength to tell it like it is.

Author, David Kortje, clearly lets you know that you have an enemy and that he hates me, and he does. He explains in such a perfect clear way why he hates you, and that alone will boast you to continue on to battle him. I haven't seen that put so well, probably never, in any book that I have reviewed.
Excellent job. He shares with you many times he himself has fallen into the gripes of the enemy, the tragedy that followed and how he could have avoided the hurt it did to himself and others. Thank you for sharing that with us.
And then, he clearly lets you know that there will be sometimes that things happen, bad things, and no matter how much you pray, believe, confess, these things may well occur. That is hard, but that is the truth, and it is a truth that you need to hear. We don't always have all the answers, all the why's, but we do have the Savior that will see us through every difficulty in life.

I honestly want to tell you that I truly believe for any serious Christian this book will help you understand the struggles you are having. I am not downplaying the goodness that belonging to Jesus brings. Of course He never leaves us or forsakes us, and our life would be completely empty without Him. I just realize that too many Christians do not have their eyes open concerning their enemy, and that's just the way he wants it. An enemy can do so much more harm if you don't know you have one. You have much more of a chance of winning if you understand you do have an enemy and some of the tactics that he will use to harm you, and those you love. This is not a game to him, it's well to remember that.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a must have, a gem for all Christians. Thank you Mr. Kortje for the courage I know that it took to write this book. I am sure the enemy was not pleased, but I am sure the Lord is. My highest recommendation.
David Kortje's book, "The Unseen War" offers something for everyone. It completes something in every stage of our walk in life. For the unsaved, it says, "come". For the newly saved, "welcome, prepare." For the already deeply embattled, "keep on." For the well traveled, "refresh, renew, dig in." For all of us: HOPE. Truth. Explanations so desperately needed of the different phases of our walk. "The Unseen War" defines in purposeful, deliberate manner what we face in this life, and why. It guides. Challenges. Encourages. Uplifts.

David practices what he preaches. He offers himself humbly, before the throne of God, a broken man, a humble servant, a witness. Embattled. Victorious. Scared AND healed. Rarely is someone so willing to tell the truth like it is, in a deeply moving, personal manner. You will cry with David, you'll be encouraged to fight the fight with David; as with all our Christian brothers and sisters in Christ. For together we are the Lord's army, and NOTHING shall separate us from the love of God which is in Chris Jesus.

This book offers a clear picture of life on this earth, to us all. Well worth the read. Go into life; prepared. Recommend to everyone!

God Bless you David for sharing your heart and God's truth.

David K. Kortje book points out, Jesus Christ wants to knead our hearts back to where He died and rose with victory over death. This is a victory which will sustain us in a life without fear, and a life lived in complete forgiveness. Jesus' will is done by pointing our minds, faith and our courage back to our Trust in His Salvation. Salvation means a new life in Christ for His Kingdom, not this world's will but Christ's will to be done.

David K. Kortje let's us know we are not pieces of a puzzle, but we are part of a foundation, which Jesus has entrusted us to seek, share, and reflect.

"The Unseen War" emphasizes Luke 9:62 (NIV) Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God
